Your Situation
Where you might be starting from
Four scenarios we encounter again and again. If one of these scenarios describes your situation, you are in the right place.
A Tool is the diagnosis; the work follows from it. The Three Tools tell you what is wrong and what it would take to fix. That is why each situation below starts with a Tool, and ends with the work that follows.
You’ve outgrown what you have
Spreadsheets and a small accounting package got you here. They won’t get you further.
The tools you started with were the right choice at the time. QuickBooks and a well-built spreadsheet will carry a business a surprisingly long way, and there is nothing naive about having used them. What changes is not the software but the shape of the business around it.
You can usually feel the limit before you can name it. Month-end takes a week and still ends in an argument about which number is right. Someone’s whole job has quietly become re-keying data from one system into another. Inventory lives in a spreadsheet that one person understands. You are making decisions on figures that were true two weeks ago.
Outgrowing your tools is a sign of success, not a mistake — but it is a real threshold, and the question is no longer whether to move. It is what to move to, and how much system you actually need. Firms in this position are often sold considerably more than they require.
The honest answer depends on things we would need to look at: how you sell, how you count, and what you are trying to become. A Real-IT Check is a free, no-obligation read on where you stand — the shortest route from a vague feeling to a clear picture.

Your system is holding you back
The system still runs. It just stopped being an asset some time ago.
Nothing has broken, exactly. The system starts every morning and the invoices go out. But you have the distinct sense of working around it more than working with it, and that feeling has been there long enough to become normal.
The signs are familiar. Workarounds have hardened into process, and nobody remembers they were workarounds. The real reporting happens in Excel, outside the system, because that is where the numbers can be made to make sense. The upgrade has been postponed twice. The people who configured the thing have moved on, and with them went the reasoning behind half of it.
Feeling stuck is not the same as knowing the answer, and we would rather you did not assume the answer is replacement. Sometimes what is needed is a version, or a fix, or a handful of decisions that were deferred years ago and never revisited. Sometimes it is genuinely a move. The difference matters, because one of those costs a great deal more than the others.

It was here when you arrived
You are accountable for a system you had no part in choosing.
You are new, or newly responsible, and this is what you found. Someone else made these decisions, for reasons that may have been sound at the time and are not written down anywhere. Now the questions are coming to you.
It is a particular kind of difficult. There is no documentation, or there is documentation that describes a system that no longer exists. The partner who built it has gone quiet, been replaced, or was never replaced at all. Nobody in the building can tell you why it is configured this way, only that changing it makes people nervous. And you are being asked to stand behind numbers you cannot yet trace.
Before you need a plan, you need a map. What we do first is document the as-is — the setups, the configurations, the data, the integrations, the financial foundation — and tell you plainly what you are dealing with. No judgment about how it got this way; that is rarely useful and never your fault.
An Aud-IT Review is a fixed-fee, deep-dive assessment, and the documented findings are yours to keep whatever you decide to do next, including nothing, and including working with someone else.

It’s running, but it isn’t working
It went live. The reasons you bought it never arrived.
The project finished. The system is in use. And yet almost nothing that justified the investment has actually happened.
This looks the same in most businesses. People have quietly reverted to their own spreadsheets for the work that matters. Modules you paid for sit unused because they were configured for a process nobody follows. Adoption stalled somewhere short of the point where the benefits start. The business case is still in a folder somewhere, and no one has read it since go-live.
The gap is almost always between how the system was configured and how the business actually works — and that gap usually opened well before go-live, at the point where someone should have said something and the timeline made it easier not to. It is rarely the software.
Starting again does not have to mean tearing it out. Often a surprising amount of what is there can be kept, once someone has established what is actually wrong. That is what an Aud-IT Review is for: a clear-eyed diagnosis, documented, with a recommended path forward that is yours regardless of who ends up doing the work.
